Beginning Fencing

Starting your fencing journey

Our Youth Intro Package is the easiest way to try the sport. It is three classes for new fencers at $195, with all equipment provided. Classes are a mix of warm-ups, skill-building games, footwork, partner drills, and bouting, and no experience is needed.

The three classes are meant to be taken in consecutive weeks, and the package expires 45 days after the first class. Intro classes meet Thursdays 4:00 to 5:30 PM for ages 6 to 12 and Saturdays 10:00 to 11:30 AM for ages 6 to 9.

For fencers who want to keep going, the Youth Beginner Program above is the natural next step.

Youth Beginner
Program

Our Youth Beginner Program is built for new fencers from 6 to 12 years old. It runs in five-week cycles, two practices a week on Thursdays and Saturdays with one lesson, and each cycle closes with an in-house tournament here at the club on the final Saturday.

That means a beginner competes roughly every five weeks, in a familiar room, in front of familiar coaches, before ever traveling to an outside event. Learning to compete is a separate skill from learning to fence, and we would rather your fencer build it here first.

The seven cycles for the 2026-27 season are:

  • Cycle 1: September 3 to October 3

  • Cycle 2: October 8 to November 7

  • Cycle 3: November 12 to December 19

  • Cycle 4: January 7 to February 6

  • Cycle 5: February 11 to March 13

  • Cycle 6: March 18 to May 1 (an extended cycle covering the schools' spring breaks)

  • Cycle 7: May 6 to June 5
